Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Pelvic health physical therapy is a specialty niche addressing conditions and concerns related to the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding tissues.

Just because it is common, doesn’t mean it is your new normal.

What even is it??

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy can be life changing for individuals. This area of our body is so intimate and can feel difficult to discuss and address so we don’t take this responsibility lightly. During sessions we use tools, movement and education - a lot of education! - to reduce pain and improve quality of life. No more feeling foreign in your own body and fearful of leaving the house.

The pelvic floor is responsible for so much - bowel & bladder health, sexual health & function, pregnancy & postpartum, and general organ support.

Who May Benefit from Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Pregnancy & Postpartum.

We optimize movement during and after pregnancy with close guidance. Birth preparation and support in the immediate phase of postpartum is essential.

Pain with Insertion.

Whether it’s during a gynecology exam, while inserting a tampon, or during sexual relations, this is not something you need to live with and can be addressed in physical therapy.

Bowel & Bladder Incontinence.

These concerns are often closely related to pelvic floor musculature and lifestyle habits. Both can be effectively addressed using our one-on-one care format.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse.

This is most often seen postpartum and can feel like a pain or pressure that may get worse with certain activities. Our treatment addresses this from multiple different approaches.

Fitness Guidance.

Combining these three knowledge bases, I am very passionate about helping pregnant women stay (or become!!) active during pregnancy and beyond. There is a large gap for this specific population in the fitness world and I want to help fill it! Everyone responds to this phase of life differently so individualized guidance is essential to optimize outcomes for everyone involved.

Together we create a plan that works for YOU and your lifestyle. Whether this is your first pregnancy or fifth, we can find a way to make movement a healthy, safe part of your life. We discuss preparation for birth and how to best recover in the first 6 weeks of postpartum before you see any other healthcare provider. Let’s keep moving even with another human on board!
